# Philipp Schäfer

> Independent design and technology advisor based in Munich, Germany. Early in every digital wave since 1995: web, mobile, design thinking, design doing, machine learning, agentic systems.

Philipp Schäfer (German: Unabhängiger Berater für Design und Technologie, München) works on advisory, product development, project leadership, advisory boards and talks — mostly where an organisation sees that something is shifting but not yet where to.

## Track record
- 1995: co-founded peppermind at Kochan & Partner, Munich, one of Germany's first digital agencies.
- 1997: founded the German arm of Spray in Hamburg, which through a merger became Razorfish; CEO (Vorstandsvorsitzender) from 1999.
- 2001: built and led a think tank for Telefónica and Sonera (Quam) on the future of mobile communication.
- 2008: Managing Director of IDEO Germany and Associate Partner, four years.
- 2012: co-founded and led the Munich office of SinnerSchrader (now Accenture Song); 2015 name, brand and first product design for waipu.tv.
- 2016: Director of Design & UX at ExB, user experience for a trainable machine-learning platform processing text at industrial scale.
- Since 2022: independent advisor for design and technology. Side project: Vinylist (https://vinylist.studio/).
- 30 years, 200+ projects, 300+ people hired. Industries: health & pharma, telecommunications, financial services, automotive, high-tech, media, travel, consulting.
